Sato Pharmaceutical, maker of Zentrip, reports that with all the devices and preventative medications on the market, there is no reason today to fear seasickness when fishing from a boat or traveling by ship.
The key is in realizing that since seasickness is created by a mismatch between the balance the ear feels through its semicircular canals and the balance that the eye sees, the ear can send signals to a part of the brain that tells you that youre in distress. "This gives new meaning to the old saw, 'dont rock the boat'," says Walter Morimoto, sales manager for Zentrip.
To aid in preventing seasickness, scientists in Japan created Zentrip, a novel medicated strip for motion and seasickness that dissolves in seconds on the tongue and quickly goes to work in restoring a calm feeling.
The developers of Zentrip suggest that anyone going on a boat can avoid or ease the queasiness attributable to seasickness by following these simple rules:
On a boat, choose a seat in the middle, preferably on deck.
Keep your head still and focus on the distant horizon.
Close your eyes and avoid looking at fast-moving objects, such as waves or other vistas and scenery.
